Bihar’s famous folk singer Sharda Sinha passed away, breathed her last in AIIMS, Delhi

New Delhi: Famous folk singer Sharda Sinha is no more among us. She breathed her last today in AIIMS, Delhi. She was ill for a long time. She was admitted to AIIMS. Sharda was called the Nightingale of Bihar. Sharda Sinha was 72 years old.

My health started getting worse in the evening.

Sharda Sinha’s health started deteriorating on Tuesday evening. Her kidney problem increased from the evening. Her creatinine also increased. Her dialysis was started. She died on the ventilator. She was also awarded Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan by the Government of India. 

Sharda’s famous songs are played during Chhath Puja

Sharda Sinha was known for her captivating folk performances during the Chhath festival. Most of the folk songs played during Chhath Puja are those of Sharda. 72-year-old Sharda Sinha has been suffering from multiple myeloma (a type of blood cancer) since 2018. Her condition deteriorated on Monday, due to which she was put on a ventilator.

PM Modi had assured the family of help.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inquired about the health of famous folk singer Sharda Sinha from her family. He assured the family of all possible help. Her son Anshuman Sinha gave information about his mother’s health through social media. 

Started his career in 1970

Let us tell you that Sharda Sinha, known for her contribution to the traditional folk music of Bihar and her iconic Chhath song, rules the hearts of the people of Bhojpuri society. Over the years, her voice has become synonymous with the Chhath festival. Sharda Sinha’s illustrious career began in the 1970s and she achieved national recognition in Bhojpuri, Maithili, and Hindi folk music.

Received Padma Bhushan in 2018 

Her famous songs like ‘Babool’ from ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun..!’ not only brought her fame but also critical acclaim. In 2018, she was awarded the prestigious Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian award, for her contribution to the arts. She has also won the National Film Award. This year, Sharda Sinha’s husband also died due to a brain hemorrhage. This year, both of them celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary.
