NI work at Gorakhpur Cantt-Unaula slowed down the speed of trains
Rail operations across the critical Narkatiaganj-Gorakhpur railway route have suffered major disruptions following ongoing Non-Interlocking (NI) engineering works between Unaula and Gorakhpur Cantonment. Passing through key regional hubs like बगहा in West Champaran, the infrastructure upgrade has severely impacted both long-distance mail express services and local passenger trains, leaving thousands of commuters stranded for hours at railway platforms.
Severe Delays Paralyze Major Long-Distance Express Trains
The execution of NI work has forced railway authorities to regulate and delay numerous high-profile trains, causing immense inconvenience to passengers. The premier 12558 Anand Vihar-bound Saptkranti Superfast Express arrived at Bagaha railway station a staggering seven hours and thirty minutes behind schedule, while its counterpart, the 12557 Saptkranti, departed Muzaffarpur nearly four hours late. Other heavily delayed services include the 14111 Bapudham Express running a massive 12 hours late, the 19038 Avadh Express delayed by eight hours, and the 04014 Lokha Bazaar Special trailing by six hours. Additional services such as the Khatipura-Amrit Bharat Express, Garib Rath Express, and Champaran Satyagraha Express faced delays ranging from four to five hours.
Local Passenger Trains Cancelled and Jananayak Express Diverted
The disruption has hit daily commuters and passengers from smaller stations hardest, with local train operations experiencing direct cancellations. Railway officials confirmed that the 55097, 55095, and 55098 Narkatiaganj-Gorakhpur Cantt passenger services were completely cancelled for the day. Furthermore, to ease congestion amid the engineering blocks, the 15212 Jananayak Express was successfully diverted through an alternate rail route via Muzaffarpur, extending travel times significantly for passengers heading toward their destinations. While railway engineering teams are working expeditiously to complete the modernization work, travelers are strongly advised to check updated train schedules before embarking on journeys across this section.
