Taking direct aim at administrative complacency, the legislator warned field officers that official accountability will be enforced if agricultural producers face operational hurdles during the ongoing cultivation cycle. Stressing that dry farmlands cannot be nourished by administrative paperwork and theoretical statistics, the lawmaker insisted that immediate physical repairs of defunct irrigation installations must take precedence across rural zones.
Tubewell Breakdown Across Villages Sparks War of Words Between Power and Irrigation Wings
The review unmasked deep operational cracks across state-managed water networks, with Assistant Engineer Meenakshi Bharti stating that Benipur hosts 50 government deep tubewells alongside 21 specialized lift irrigation schemes. According to irrigation disclosures, only 46 total units remain active in the fields, while 10 state tubewells sit dormant due to persistent electrical faults and four remain locked in prolonged mechanical overhauls. Communities heavily impacted by crippled power connections include Lavani, Brahmapatti, Sajjanpura, Malaul, Madhopur, Benipur town, Dakhram, and Mahinam. However, electricity wing Assistant Engineer Monelal countered these claims on the spot, stating that power supplies have already been restored across six of the stalled units, promising that the remaining pending connections will be resolved before September 25.

Expanding long-term water-harvesting mechanisms across Darbhanga’s agrarian belt, the MLA instructed technical teams to conduct urgent on-site surveys and draft Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for constructing vital check dams at Narbandh along the Jivchh River and at Mahinam. Issuing a stern directive to Junior Engineer Ankit Kumar, the legislator cautioned that any direct farmer grievance reaching his desk would bring strict administrative action against supervisory staff. Reinforcing this disciplinary stance, Benipur SDO Manish Kumar Jha ordered assistant and junior engineers to provide formal explanations regarding chronic office absenteeism, ordering technical personnel to stay rooted within Benipur block to resolve ground-level water crises in the active presence of local leaders Rajneesh Sundaram, Ramkumar Jha, Vishnudev Paswan, Prem Kumar Jha, Abhay Kumar Munna, and Shivam Kumar.
