As millions of travelers prepare for the grand autumn and winter festive season, Eastern Railway has announced a major relief measure for passengers, particularly those traveling through Jamui and surrounding transit hubs. To combat the massive seasonal rush expected during Durga Puja, Diwali, and the sacred Chhath Mahaparva, railway authorities have officially extended the operational service period of the Mau-Kolkata-Mau special train routes.
Extended Schedule and Trip Details for Mau-Kolkata Specials
To accommodate heavy passenger traffic and alleviate chronic seat shortages on regular routes connecting Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal, the railway administration has scheduled a series of dedicated weekly trips. According to the Chief Public Relations Officer of Eastern Railway, the trains will strictly follow their existing designated routes, standard timings, and scheduled stoppages:
Train No. 05096 (Mau-Kolkata Special): Will depart from Mau every Wednesday starting from October 7 through November 25, 2026, completing a total of 8 scheduled trips.
Train No. 05095 (Kolkata-Mau Special): Will depart from Kolkata every Thursday starting from October 8 through November 26, 2026, operating for a total of 8 trips.
Major Relief for Migrant Workers and Holiday Travelers
During peak festive windows like Diwali and Chhath, regular express and mail trains heading toward Uttar Pradesh and Bihar frequently experience insurmountable waiting lists and packed compartments.
The extension of these special services comes as a significant boon for migrant workers, students, and working professionals striving to return home to their families.
