Daniyawan-Hulasganj Road to Become Four-Lane with ₹1,655 Crore Investment

Post

The region of Nalanda is poised for a monumental leap in connectivity and economic growth. Authorities have formally initiated the process to widen the crucial Daniyawan-Hilsa-Ekangarsarai-Islampur-Hulasganj route from its current two-lane configuration into a modern, high-capacity four-lane highway. With a feasibility report already submitted to the higher authorities, the ambitious infrastructure project promises to transform transportation and stimulate commercial activity across multiple districts in Bihar.

Project Scope, Cost Estimates, and Feasibility Report

The formal momentum for the upgrade gathered speed following applications submitted on the state's Sahyog portal by public advocates like Vikas Anand and Team Anand. In response, the Executive Engineer of the Road Construction Department in Hilsa confirmed that an official feasibility report for widening the 44.155-kilometer stretch (from 0.00 km to 44.155 km) was submitted to the headquarters on August 11, 2026.

Estimated at a massive budget of ₹1,655.55 crore, the financial proposal has been structured under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF). Local representation has also played a vital role in pushing the project forward; Islampur MLA Ruhel Ranjan recently met with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi to champion the four-lane expansion.

Land Acquisition Requirements: 285 Acres Set for Clearance

Converting a busy state artery into a multi-lane highway requires substantial spatial expansion. According to departmental data:

Existing Available Land: Approximately 164.32 acres of land are already available across various local mouzas along the route.

Land to be Acquired: An additional 285.95 acres of land must be acquired to successfully complete the four-lane engineering design.

Catalyst for Regional Economic Development and Commuter Convenience

Spanning roughly 44 kilometers, the Daniyawan-to-Hulasganj corridor serves as a vital economic spine connecting key commercial and residential hubs, including Hilsa, Ekangarsarai, and Islampur.

Once constructed, the four-lane highway will drastically streamline traffic movement, curb chronic bottlenecks, and enhance road safety. Furthermore, the upgraded corridor is expected to supercharge local commerce, accelerate the efficient transport of agricultural produce from rural fields to major markets, and provide seamless, time-saving travel for daily commuters. With the feasibility report cleared, local stakeholders eagerly await official project sanction, the launch of land acquisition proceedings, and the eventual breaking of ground.
