The historic district of East Champaran is gearing up for a grand celebration as the much-anticipated Bapudham Mahotsav prepares to kick off in Motihari. Scheduled to run from September 1 to September 3 at the sprawling Gandhi Maidan, the festival will be jointly inaugurated by Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. Beyond the cultural grandeur, the event is set to mark a massive developmental milestone for the region with high-value infrastructure gifts.
Grand Inauguration and Development Gifts Worth ₹285 Crore
According to District Magistrate Saurabh Suman Yadav, the official inauguration ceremony will commence at 12:30 PM on September 1. Highlighting the administration's focus on regional growth, Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for 145 development schemes totaling a staggering ₹284.99 crore (approximately ₹285 crore).
Following the inaugural ceremony, the dignitaries will address the Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Fisheries Promotion Fair hosted at the Mahatma Gandhi Auditorium, emphasizing rural livelihoods and primary sector growth.
Star-Studded Cultural Evenings Across Three Days
The three-day festival promises vibrant evening entertainment, with cultural programs scheduled to begin daily at 5:00 PM:
Day 1: Renowned folk singer Maithili Thakur and vocalist Kareena Pandey will captivate audiences with soulful traditional performances.
Day 2: Acclaimed Bollywood playback singer Salman Ali will take center stage to enchant music lovers with his powerful melodies.
Day 3: Tishyashree and her troupe will entertain the gathering with a lively comedy and poetry conference (Khas Sammelan).
Department-Wise Breakdown of Infrastructure Projects
The comprehensive financial package covers a diverse array of foundational and completed public works designed to upgrade urban and rural infrastructure across East Champaran:
Foundation Stones & Inaugurations: The administration will lay foundation stones for 90 departmental projects worth ₹88.89 crore, while simultaneously inaugurating 55 completed projects valued at ₹196.10 crore.
Urban Development: The Municipal Corporation accounts for 78 upcoming projects worth ₹42.60 crore aimed at modernizing urban civic infrastructure.
Roads and Infrastructure: Major connectivity boosts include a ₹58.48 crore road project under the Road Construction Department's Dhaka division, alongside nine projects worth ₹26.85 crore by the Local Area Engineering Organization (LAO).
Police and Health Sector Upgrades: A total of ₹49.52 crore has been allocated across 15 schemes managed by the Bihar Police Building Construction Corporation (comprising 7 foundation stones and 8 inaugurations). Additionally, the health sector receives seven medical service schemes worth ₹2.99 crore, while the sports department oversees three initiatives valued at ₹30.32 crore, alongside crucial investments in bridge construction, dairy, fisheries, and tourism.
