Bihar : CM Samrat Choudhary Announces Heliports in Kaimur and Valmiki Nagar to Boost Eco-Tourism
In a landmark move aimed at transforming the socio-economic landscape of Bihar’s tribal-dominated regions, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has announced a comprehensive development package. During an interaction with beneficiaries of the 'Birsa Lives in New Bharat Scheme' at the Samvad Auditorium in Patna, the Chief Minister unveiled plans to construct heliports in West Champaran’s Valmiki Nagar and the hilly regions of Kaimur. This strategic infrastructure development is designed to put these regions on the global eco-tourism map, making them more accessible to visitors while creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for local communities.
The state government is also set to launch a specialized 'Homestay Program' in tribal areas. This initiative is envisioned to tap into the tourism potential of these culturally rich regions, allowing tourists to experience the unique traditions of tribal communities while providing residents with a stable alternative income stream.
Empowering the Grassroots: Marathons and Education
Beyond tourism, the government is placing a massive emphasis on youth engagement and educational empowerment. CM Samrat Choudhary announced that marathon events will be organized across tribal-dominated districts to foster a spirit of sportsmanship and physical well-being. To incentivize participation, the government has declared substantial prize money for winners: ₹1 lakh for the first-place finisher, ₹75,000 for the runner-up, and ₹50,000 for the third-place winner.
Education also remains a top priority under this new development roadmap. Recognizing the hardships faced by the residents of Adhaura in Kaimur, the Chief Minister announced the establishment of a new degree college in the hilly terrains of the district. This initiative aims to bridge the gap in higher education access for students in remote areas, ensuring that the tribal youth are not left behind in the state's march toward progress.
Vision for 'New Bharat' and Tribal Prosperity
Highlighting the state's commitment to the 'Janjatiya Garima Utsav 2026', CM Choudhary emphasized that his government is working tirelessly to integrate Scheduled Tribe (ST) students into the national mainstream. He cited the successful implementation of various scholarship schemes, noting that nearly 1.04 lakh ST/SC students have benefited from post-matric scholarships this year alone.
The Chief Minister also pointed to the success of central government-led Eklavya Schools and the state's 'Rapid Development Scheme for Scheduled Tribes,' which has already seen works worth ₹180 crore completed in West Champaran. With these coordinated efforts in infrastructure, tourism, sports, and education, the administration is aiming to achieve a significant transformation in the quality of life for Bihar’s indigenous populations, turning these once-remote regions into hubs of prosperity and growth.
