Ballia: Still the dominance of independents in Nagar Panchayats

Baliya : After the voting for the municipal elections, the counting of votes started at all the tehsil headquarters from 8 am on Saturday. In the initial trends, BJP is trailing in most of the Nagar Panchayats.

Supporters of the candidates gathered outside the counting centers since morning to know the results for the municipal elections. Heavy security arrangements have been made around the counting centres.

Along with Ballia Municipality, the counting of votes for Chitbadgaon and Ratsar Nagar Panchayat is being done at Mandi Parishad located at the district headquarters. As soon as the counting of votes began in the morning, a scuffle broke out between the agents of the candidates. After the uproar, the police took Jamal Alam, the agent of Sanjay Upadhyay, the independent candidate for the post of Ballia Municipality President, out of the counting venue. Even after this, there is a tug-of-war between the agents for each ballot paper. District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar and SP Rajkaran Nayyar were seen inspecting the counting centers continuously. However, even after the counting of the first round, no information was given by the District Election Department. However, according to the information received from the candidates’ agents, the main contest for the post of Ballia Municipality President is between BJP candidate Sant Kumar Gupta and Nirdal Sanjay Upadhyay. Sant Kumar has an edge in this. At present, SP candidate Laxman Gupta is far behind here. Whereas, in Sahatwar, SP supported Nirdal Sarita Singh got 1743 votes and BJP’s Ajay Singh got 1456 votes. Independent candidate Dhirendra Singh is leading in Bansdih by getting 1184 votes. Here on second number is Sunil Singh of SP by getting 1132 votes. Nirdal Ajay has got 820 votes while BJP’s Vijay has got 809 votes so far in Ratsar Nagar Panchayat’s counting. In Revati Nagar Panchayat, Nirdal Rana Yogendra Vikram Singh got 1257 votes, Nirdal Jayashree got 1498 votes and BJP’s Abhigyan Tiwari got 937 votes.
