Minister of State for Health Prataprao Jadhav told the Lok Sabha in a written reply on Friday that no fraud of any kind will be tolerated in the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. He said a zero-tolerance approach has been adopted towards fraud. The minister also said a three-tier grievance redressal system is in place at the district, state, and national levels to deal with such issues, PTI reported. According to the news, while answering a question related to unnecessary surgeries being done by hospitals listed under PMJAY-Ayushman Bharat Yojana in Gujarat, the minister said that an FIhadas bhad een registered against the hospital and the concerned doctors on November 12. Along with this, he informed that the hospital and the doctors involved in it have been suspended from Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAYA totalof tal 18,184 complaints were registered.

The Union Minister said that complaints have been received about denial of treatment in hospitals, charges for admission, discharge,e or medicines, and non-availability of Pradhan Mantri Arogya Mitra (PMAM). A total of 18,184 such complaints have been registered on the Central Grievance Redressal and Monitoring System (CGRMS) till November 25. Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana ensures quality healthcare services to the beneficiaries.

Jadhav said that appropriate action is taken against fake institutions like suspension, show cause notices, warning letters, de-empaneling hospitals, deactivating e-cards, imposing fines on erring hospital,ls and lodging FIRs. He said that a three-tier grievance redressal system has been created at district, state, and national levels to resolve problems faced by beneficiaries in accessing healthcare under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.

The Ayushman Bharat scheme aims to provide health cover of Rs 5 lakh per family per year to around 55 crore beneficiaries. This constitutes the economically weaker bottom 4percentnt of India’s population i.e. 12.37 crore families. As of October 31, 2024, a total of 35.8 crore Ayushman cards have been generated under this scheme. As of December 2, a total of 20.4 lakh Ayushman Vaya Vandana cards have been generated under this scheme, Jadhav said.
