Actor Amitabh Bachchan was so impressed with the script of his film ‘Chehre’ that he not only said yes to doing it for free but also paid for his production journey to Poland. However, producer Anand Pandit has revealed that Amitabh has been given ‘Friendly Appearance’ credit in the film due to tax reasons.
Amitabh did not take any fee in the film ‘Black’
But ‘Chehre’ is not the first time that Amitabh Bachchan has not charged fees for working in a film. Years ago, he did Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Black for free, just because he wanted to work with the director. And Amitabh won a National Award for his performance as a tutor to a deaf and dumb girl played by Rani Mukerji.
Amitabh wanted to work with Sanjay
On the 12th anniversary of ‘Black’ in 2017, Amitabh wrote on his blog, “I wanted to work with Sanjay, after seeing all his other work… and when the opportunity came, it was tremendous. No fee was charged for the film… Being a part of a film like this, was a substantial fee for me.”
Dilip sahib also saw this film in the premiere
Amitabh continued, “When we all saw the film in the premiere, I just had tears of joy, and of course having Dilip sahab in the audience was a childhood dream come true. When the film was over, He stood outside the hall, then he held my hand and looked me in the eye… it was the moment I was ready to live a lifetime.”
