About 1.29 crore domestic passengers traveled by air in April, which is about 43 per cent more than last time.

New Delhi : 128.88 lakh domestic passengers traveled by air in April. While this figure is 22 per cent higher than the same period last year, it is lower than the 128.93 lakh passengers carried in March. A total of 105.47 lakh people traveled by air in April, 2022.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said, ‘The number of domestic passengers between January and April increased to 503.93 lakh as compared to 352.70 lakh in the same period last year. Year-on-year increase in the number of passengers was recorded at 42.88 per cent annually, while a monthly increase of 22.20 per cent was recorded. If we talk about on-time operations in April, Akasa Air’s performance stood at 94 per cent. It was followed by Air India 91.1 per cent, Indigo 89.6 per cent, Vistara 86.5 per cent, AirAsia India 82.9 per cent, SpiceJet 69.2 per cent and Alliance Air 67.9 per cent. The worst performer on this criterion was Go First (41.7 per cent).

In April, IndiGo’s domestic market share increased to 57.5 per cent from 56.8 per cent in the previous month. In April, Air India’s market share dropped to 8.6 per cent from 8.8 per cent in March, while Vistara’s market share dropped to 8.7 per cent from 8.9 per cent during the same period. On the other hand, the market share of AirAsia India (now AIX Connect) remained at 7.6 per cent. SpiceJet’s market share declined from 6.4 per cent in March to 5.8 per cent in April, while that of GoFirst declined from 6.9 per cent to 6.4 per cent. Last month, Akasa Air’s market share increased to 4 percent from 3.3 percent in March. Talking about the cancellation of flights, Alliance Air canceled the maximum number of 7.55 flights.

Action will be taken on the exorbitant increase in air fares

The Civil Aviation Ministry has warned airline companies that the government will be forced to take action if there is a steep hike in fares. In fact, the ministry is continuously receiving complaints about the increase in air fares. An official associated with the Ministry of Aviation said that air passengers should not be bothered by the huge increase in fares. There should be no increase in airfares, especially in the area where GoFirst has stopped services. Not only this, there should not be much difference in the fare of economy class.

More than 3900 people got employment

New Delhi (PTI): Air India and Air India Express (AIX) have employed over 3,900 people, including over 500 pilots and 2,400 cabin crew, so far this year. Tata group-led Air India is improving the operating system and hiring more people, the airline’s chief Campbell Wilson said. Air India has around 11 thousand employees and AIX has around 1900 people including third party employees.
