Xi Jinping, China's President, urged his officials to remain calm with the emerging intra and global problems as a sign that suggests Beijing will not fully comply to the new restrictions set forth by the Trump administration in regards to trade and investment.

Per Xinhua News, he made these statements to the leading members of the Politburo and State Council as well as after perusing their work over the past years. The comments came at the same time President Donald Trump started implementing his most severe policies on China during his second term which increases the probability for vitriolic relations.

According to Xi, “China must enhance its political capabilities and calmly respond to challenges brought about by changes in the domestic and international situation.”

Trump's administration has escalated the measures imposed on America and China relations with a new agenda centered around trade and investment. This new agenda includes forbidding Chinese expenditure in US strategic sectors like technologies and energies, compelling Mexico to impose its own tariffs on Chinese imports, and countering the Chinese hegemony in the ship in the commercial ship building arena.

Similarly, in his more recent statements, Xi stressed the importance of top officials ensuring social order and aiding in the long-term restoration of the economy along with steadily improving the living standards of the people.
