In Hinduism, every tithi (date) is dedicated to a specific deity, and Ekadashi holds special significance as it is devoted to Lord Vishnu, the preserver of the universe. One such auspicious occasion is Vijaya Ekadashi, observed on the Ekadashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Falgun. On this sacred day, devotees observe a fast and worship Lord Vishnu to seek his divine blessings. It is believed that fasting and offering prayers on Vijaya Ekadashi can remove all sorrows and bring happiness, peace, and prosperity into one’s life.

The Importance of Offerings to Lord Vishnu

Devotees believe that offering Lord Vishnu’s favorite items on Vijaya Ekadashi pleases him, leading to abundance, prosperity, and well-being. By making these sacred offerings, one can receive divine blessings and protection from hardships.

Sacred Offerings for Vijaya Ekadashi Puja

To seek Lord Vishnu’s divine grace, devotees should offer:

1. Tulsi (Holy Basil)

  • Tulsi leaves are considered extremely dear to Lord Vishnu, hence offering them during puja enhances devotion and brings divine blessings.
  • Due to its sacred nature, Tulsi is also called "Vishnupriya" (beloved of Vishnu).

2. Yellow Clothes

  • Lord Vishnu is believed to favor the color yellow, which represents purity, wisdom, and prosperity.
  • Offering yellow garments to the deity on Vijaya Ekadashi is considered highly auspicious.

3. Yellow Sweets and Fruits

  • Devotees should offer yellow-colored sweets, such as besan laddu, kesar peda, or jaggery-based sweets, as they are believed to be favored by Lord Vishnu.
  • Additionally, yellow fruits like bananas and mangoes, along with Panchamrit Kheer (a sacred milk-based offering), should be included in the offerings.

Significance of Vijaya Ekadashi

Vijaya Ekadashi is associated with victory, success, and the removal of obstacles in life. Observing this fast with devotion is said to:

  • Bring inner peace and prosperity
  • Remove past sins and negativity
  • Ensure success in personal and professional endeavors
  • Grant divine protection and guidance

On this sacred day, devotees engage in chanting Vishnu mantras, reading the Vishnu Sahasranama, and offering prayers at temples. Fasting and worshipping with sincerity on Vijaya Ekadashi are believed to grant fulfillment of wishes and ultimate spiritual liberation (Moksha).
