AIDS Outbreak: 26 inmates in Noida District Jail test HIV positive

As many as 26 inmates have tested positive for HIV at the district jail in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddha Nagar district. An officer informed about this. The official said that this has come to the fore after the investigation conducted by setting up a camp in the jail. The jail administration has started treatment of prisoners at the Anti Retroviral Therapy (ART) Center of the District Hospital, Sector-30.

Let us tell you that this is not the first case when a case of HIV positive has come to light among the prisoners in the state. Earlier in the month of September, 22 prisoners in Barabanki District Jail were found to be HIV positive. On the other hand, the report of 5 prisoners lodged in Bijnor jail has come positive.

How is HIV spread?

HIV, an incurable disease, is often spread from one body to another through physical contact. Also, it can spread from person to person through needles, syringes or other drug injection equipment used on an HIV patient.
