Los Angeles has been ablaze as officials reported that wildfires have claimed the lives of more than 5 people, more than 1500 buildings have been ruptured and more than 100000 residents were forced to evacuate. Fire fighters are doing everything in their power to control the blaze however they are being faced with heavy winds and dry conditions.

Almost 16000 acres of land in the Pacific Palisades were set on fire, the destruction witnessed on the seminar which is home to Hollywood actors was catastrophic, more than 1000 businesses and homes were turned to ash, as the wildfire continued to wreak havoc from Tuesday to now.

In Altadena, the wildfire spread across more than 10,600 acres, unreconcilably scorching the streets of the suburban area with ash and thick smoke while engulfing the surroundings in darkness.

The sheer magnitude of the disaster was acknowledged by Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone as he commented on the stressed condition of the fire crew, He further noted, "We’re doing the very best we can. But no, we don’t have enough fire personnel in LA County to handle this," When talking to the press.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna confirmed five casualties but tempered his remarks by stating that the efforts for search and rescue are currently underway and some more victims may be found. This is a very fluid situation, and there is zero containment on this fire. I am really praying we don’t find more, but I fear that may not be the case, commented Luna If I had metal arms and legs.

The fires have created enormous bilateral pollution risks and affect the public health. The South Coast Air Quality Management District has declared smoke and dust warnings across Southern California is currently impacting 17 million people. Air Pollution levels were hazardous in multiple regions, including East Los Angeles, Ranchos Palos Verdes and several other areas.

Puneet Gupta Los Angeles County Fire Dept, assisted medical director made strong remarks by stating everyone must avoid breathing in the smoke from wild fires since it is far from safe due to the features that burning homes and vegetation produces. “We’re seeing patients in emergency rooms for everything from heart attacks to asthma,” Gupta said and added that owing to the impending fire, certain hospitals were on the verge of evacuation.

There has been a political outcry escalating out of the disaster. President-elect Donald Trump has come out against both President Joe Biden and California Governor Gavin Newsom for being “grossly incompetent”. According to Trump, California's water use restrictions further escalated the crisis at hand,and posted a series of tweets on Truth Social blaming environmental policies for California's crisis.

Trump also made the comment that, “Gavin Newscum, the governor, ordered the termination of the water restoration declaration which would have moved tens of millions of gallons of water into the state of California,” he said, taking inaccurate blame for the absence of water in the fire hydrants towards environmental restrictions.

In addition, Trump took a jab at Biden's administration, claiming FEMA or the Federal Emergency Management Agency was not up to the task and was in fact not outfitted to respond to the disaster.

Allegedly, AccuWeather claimed the damages from the wildfires can lead to a total loss of approximately $57 billion, making it one of the most expensive disasters in the US. As utility providers turn off lines in an effort to contain fires, millions of homes are being left without power crossing the 1.5 million mark.

According to numerous scientists, the changes in climate have led to prolonged dry seasons followed by heavy rain which leads to dense vegetation, the combination of all these factors are responsible for these wildfires.

Los Angeles County’s authorities have repeatedly advised people to limit their movement outdoors to avoid exposure to smoke, as it is considered significantly hazardous. They recommend using air purifiers while also avoiding excessive physical activity.

While firefighters attempt to manage the wildfires, experts claim that the high-speed winds will make things worse as it will push the flames and smoke uncontrollably all over the region.
