Major Dhyanchand Khel Ratna Award is the country's highest honor in sports. Apart from this, the Sports Ministry selected 32 players for the Arjuna Award, out of which 17 are para athletes. The surprising thing is that not a single cricketer is included in the 32 players selected for the Arjuna Award.

The Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award is given for the most outstanding and spectacular performance in the field of sports by a sportsperson during the last four years. The Arjuna Award is given for outstanding performance in sports and games during the last four years and for displaying good leadership, sportsmanship and a sense of discipline.
