Asian Games 2023: Team India is going to participate in 3 big events this year. The Indian team has to play the Asia Cup in August-September. After this, Team India will go to play Asian Games from 23rd September to 8th October and ODI World Cup 2023 will start from 5th October itself. Direct entry in quarter finals
Four teams in both the men’s and women’s events will play India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh directly from the last eight stage thanks to the ICC T20 International rankings on June 1. All matches will have official T20 International status. The men’s team, led by Rituraj Gaikwad, got a direct entry into the quarter-finals on the basis of the ICC T20 rankings till June 1. There will be 18 teams in the men’s competition while 14 teams will play in the women’s section. The women’s events will begin on September 19 and end with the gold and bronze medal matches on September 26.
Can face this team in the quarterfinals
The men’s event will begin on September 28 and the final will be played on October 7, a day after the start of the ICC Men’s 50-over World Cup in Ahmedabad. If the Indian cricket team qualifies for the final, they will have to play three consecutive days – October 5 (quarterfinals), October 6 (semi-finals) and October 7 (final). There is every possibility that India’s quarter-final will be against second-rate team Afghanistan or Bangladesh as the main teams of both the countries will be in India in the ongoing World Cup at that time.

Indian women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur will be able to play in the Asian Games only if the team reaches the finals of the Asian Games starting in Hangzhou from 23 September. Harmanpreet has recently been banned for two matches for publicly criticizing the umpiring in the ODI match against Bangladesh. She will not be able to play in the quarter-finals, which will certainly be against an Associate country, followed by a semi-final against a Full Member country. There will be a total of 32 matches in men’s and women’s events in Hangzhou Games, out of which 18 men’s and 14 women’s matches will be held.
