India’s relations with Belgium will be strengthened, technical cooperation will increase with European Union

Brussels : India is working towards increasing technical cooperation with the European Union. The Indian Foreign, Information Technology and Commerce Ministers, who are on a visit to Belgium, have talked about strengthening relations between the two countries in discussions with the Belgian Prime Minister.

India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Information Technology Minister Rajiv Chandrasekhar and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal are on a visit to Belgium. The three Ministers met the Prime Minister of Belgium, Alexandre de Crew, and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral ties. Both countries agreed to expand mutual relations and work in new areas. The three Indian ministers will attend the first meeting of the India-EU Trade and Technology Council being held in Brussels.

The three Indian ministers also met the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. During this meeting, the functioning of the working groups formed between India and the European Union will be discussed. India and the European Union will enhance cooperation in the areas of strategically important technology, digital governance and digital connectivity. In these, there will be an emphasis on increasing cooperation in the field of important technologies like artificial intelligence, quantum computing, semi-conductor and cyber security. Apart from this, there will be an emphasis on cooperation in the field of green energy and renewable energy technology. India and the European Union will also increase cooperation in the field of investment and trade.
