Amar Shaheed Sukhdev’s birth anniversary celebrated in Pakistan, demand to give him ‘national hero’ status from the government

1490254306 Bhagat Singhfb517Freedom Fighter Sukhde:   A group of lawyers of Lahore High Court celebrated the 117th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Sukhdev on Wednesday. They demanded the Pakistan government to give the status of ‘national heroes’ to the great freedom fighters. Lawyers associated with the Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation gathered in the premises of Lahore High Court and cut a cake on the occasion of the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Sukhdev.

A resolution was also passed on this occasion demanding that a road in Lahore be named after Sukhdev. It was also demanded that a chapter on him should be included in the school curriculum and a special postage stamp or coin should be issued in his name.

During the programme, Foundation Chairman Imtiaz Rashid Qureshi said that the group proudly celebrates the birth and death anniversaries of these freedom fighters.

Sukhdev was hanged along with Bhagat Singh and Rajguru.
Sukhdev was born on 15 May 1907 in Ludhiana, Punjab. Bhagat Singh was hanged along with Rajguru and Sukhdev in Lahore on 23 March 1931 on charges of conspiring against the British government.
