The Hemant Soren-led government has doubled down on its commitment to women's financial independence. In the latest phase of the Mukhyamantri Maiyan Samman Yojana, the Ranchi district administration has confirmed that approximately ₹96.79 crore has been disbursed via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
The ₹2,500 Milestone
While the scheme originally started with a monthly stipend of ₹1,000, it was significantly hiked to ₹2,500 per month. This means that every eligible woman now receives ₹30,000 annually, providing a substantial safety net for household expenses, education, and health.
Where has the money reached?
The recent transfer covers both rural blocks and urban wards across the Ranchi district. Some of the key areas with high beneficiary counts include:
Kanke: 31,443 beneficiaries
Mander: 22,984 beneficiaries
Silli: 21,045 beneficiaries
Bero: 20,496 beneficiaries
Urban Areas: Over 24,000 women in the Ranchi Sadar urban area received their payments today.
Why This Matters
This isn't just a financial transaction; it's about dignity. By ensuring the money lands directly in Aadhaar-linked bank accounts, the government has cut out middlemen, ensuring 100% transparency. For many women in Jharkhand, this monthly "Samman" (Honor) has become a vital source of empowerment, allowing them to make independent decisions for their families.
Political Stir
The timing of the transfer (occurring around local body elections) has sparked some political debate, but for the nearly 4 lakh women who saw their balances go up today, the focus remains on the tangible relief the money provides.
