Karnataka Political Row : Chief Minister Siddaramaiah reached the residence of Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar today (Tuesday, 02 December) to have breakfast. Earlier on Saturday, Shivakumar had reached the CM's residence. During this, DK Shivakumar served the Chief Minister his favourite dish 'Nati Koli Saaru' (desi chicken curry) and Idli for breakfast. This information has been given by official sources. Officials said that along with 'Nati Koli Saaru' and Idli, there were many dishes on the breakfast table including 'Nati Koli' fry, Vada, Pongal.

Amid the state's leadership dispute, the two leaders had breakfast together a few days ago. On Tuesday, Siddaramaiah arrived at Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar's residence in Sadashivanagar, where he was welcomed by Shivakumar and his brother, D.K. Suresh. Breakfast included vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. Suresh and Kunigal MLA H.D. Ranganath, a relative of Shivakumar, were also present at the table.

Speaking to reporters later, Siddaramaiah said that when Shivakumar came to the Chief Minister's residence for breakfast on Saturday, he had invited him. Asked about the difference in the dishes at both places, the Chief Minister said, "At his (Shivakumar's) house, it was non-vegetarian, while at my house it was vegetarian. He is a vegetarian, I am a non-vegetarian. I didn't have non-vegetarian food prepared. I told DK to bring chicken from the village, because the real one is not available in Bengaluru."

Siddaramaiah appeared to be in a calm mood.

After his favorite breakfast, Siddaramaiah's mood seemed calm and changed. He stated that there are no differences between him and the Deputy Chief Minister, that they are running the government together and will continue to do so in the future. He reiterated that both he and Shivakumar will abide by the decision of the Congress high command on the leadership issue. He said that when the high command decides, Shivakumar will become Chief Minister.

When will Shivakumar become the Chief Minister?

It should be noted that no information has yet been received from the high command regarding a timeframe for any decision on this matter. Responding to a question, the Chief Minister said, "If they (the high command) call us, we will definitely go and meet them. Tomorrow I will meet All India Congress Committee General Secretary K.C. Venugopal at a function where we have both been invited." When asked when Shivakumar will become Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah said, "When the high command says so."

What did the CM say on the cabinet reshuffle?

He said Shivakumar had invited him for breakfast. After breakfast, he and the Deputy Chief Minister discussed the upcoming Assembly session, which begins in Belagavi on December 8, and the strategy to be adopted for it. They also discussed holding a meeting of Karnataka MPs in Delhi on December 8, during the Parliament session, to discuss issues related to the state. Regarding the cabinet reshuffle, Siddaramaiah said the decision rests with the high command.

Referring to media reports that the opposition BJP and Janata Dal (S) are planning to bring a no-confidence motion against the government and raising several issues, the Chief Minister said the government will confront them "aggressively." The Chief Minister said his government is "pro-farmer" and highlighted the steps taken by the administration to address the problems of sugarcane and maize farmers in the state. He alleged that the Centre is not doing enough in this regard.
