Xi Jinping a more serious threat to democracy than Putin: Former Canadian PM

[ad_1]

Vancouver: Former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper believes that in the long run, China’s Supreme Leader Xi Jinping is a more serious threat to world democracies than Putin.

Speaking at an event organized by Canadian think-tank Fraser Institute here, he said China is more desperate than we believe. He also said that China had heavily interfered in Canada’s 2019 and almost immediately after the 2021 federal elections. He further said that there is no restriction on China to interfere in Canada’s political system.

Harper’s comments come days after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau appointed a commission of inquiry to investigate alleged irregularities in Canada’s elections.

He further said that the desire of the Chinese leader is to create a new world order. They want to create a hub-and-smokes global economy. In which the fumes are connected to the hub, the ultimate power (economic, political and military powers) is ultimately concentrated in Beijing.
