Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has been protesting continuously at Jantar-Mantar by prominent wrestlers of the country. Meanwhile, the wrestlers convened a Mahila Mahapanchayat in front of the New Parliament Building on 28 May. As soon as Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the new Parliament House, the leaders started moving towards the Parliament House. Meanwhile, the police tried to stop them and proceeded to break the barricade of many activists. Due to which many demonstrators were detained. These pioneers were marching on foot

Women headed the Maha Panchayat

Earlier on Tuesday, protesting wrestlers marched from Jantar-Mantar to India Gate demanding justice. After the march, wrestler Vinesh Phogat told reporters, “We have decided to hold a peaceful Mahila Mahapanchayat on March 28 in front of the New Parliament Building.” Vinesh Phogat said that this Maha Panchayat will be led by women. He also said that a loud voice should reach far and wide. If the daughters of the country get justice today, the generations to come will take inspiration from it.

WFI president accused of sexual harassment

Several top wrestlers, including Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik, have been protesting at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar since April 23. Wrestlers have accused Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and BJP MP Brijbhushan Sharan Singh of sexual harassment. The women wrestlers appealed to the Supreme Court against Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, after which two FIRs were registered at Delhi’s Connaught Place police station on April 28. In which an FIR has been registered against Singh under POCSO on the complaint of a minor girl, while another FIR has been lodged on the complaint of sexual harassment of other wrestlers.
