RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said that the decision to introduce more Rs 500 notes will depend on public demand. Significantly, on the evening of Friday, May 19, the RBI’s decision to phase out the Rs 2000 note came to the fore. Time has been given till 30 September 2023 to change it and deposit it in banks. However, RBI today also said that Rs 2000 note will continue to be legal tender.
