Weather Update: Meteorological Department (IMD) officials said that the temperature in Delhi is likely to remain hot in the coming week after a slight drop. The IMD has said that the mercury in Delhi is likely to rise rapidly in the next 48 hours.

Due to which the maximum temperature can reach between 41 degree Celsius to 43 degree Celsius. According to the Meteorological Department, light rain is likely to occur in Delhi on May 23 and 24 due to a fresh Western Disturbance.

According to the Met department forecast, Delhi’s air quality will remain largely unchanged on Saturday (May 20), but could worsen on Sunday (May 21). Safdarjung recorded a maximum temperature of 38.2 degrees Celsius on Friday, which was two degrees below normal. At the same time, 36.5 degrees Celsius was recorded a day earlier.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) scientist Kuldeep Srivastava said that the temperature has dropped in the last 48 hours due to heavy winds and rain on Thursday morning. He said that Western Disturbance is affecting Delhi NCR and winds are gusting to 55 kmph.

However, its effect is diminishing and the sky will clear from today. That means the maximum temperature will increase once again. Temperatures in Safdarjung are likely to hover around 41 or 42 degrees Celsius, while temperatures in other parts of Delhi are warmer. Western Disturbance may bring rain on May 23 and 24.

The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted an increase of 2-3 degrees Celsius in the average temperature in the coming days. However, dust storms and heavy rains are also likely in some states.

People in the hilly areas may get some relief from the scorching heat, but there is no hope of respite from the heat in other states. The IMD said the Southwest Monsoon is likely to advance over parts of South Bay of Bengal, South Andaman Sea and Nicobar Islands during the next 48 hours.
