Virat Kohli took over the reins of the Indian team after MS Dhoni relinquished the captaincy. Although India did not win any major ICC trophy under Kohli’s captaincy, the team continued to dominate world cricket, boosting the confidence of the players, while Kohli played the role of captain well, standing by every player.

However, before breaking into the senior team, Kohli had established himself as a captain at the junior level. He also led Delhi in domestic cricket before leading India to victory in the Under-19 World Cup.

In an interview, Kohli revealed that I made many mistakes as a captain and I am not ashamed to admit it. Whatever I did, I did for the betterment of the team.

Kohli said that I am not at all ashamed to admit that I have made many mistakes during my captaincy, but one thing I know for sure that I have never done anything for myself. My only aim was to take the team forward, failure is bound to happen, but my intention was never wrong.

Kohli is a part of the Indian team, but he has left the team. Rohit Sharma is currently the captain of the Indian cricket team. Kohli is currently a part of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League. He is playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Virat had also relinquished the captaincy of RCB after IPL 2021. However, this season he led the team in few matches in the absence of Faf du Plessis. In the current season, Kohli has scored 420 runs in 11 matches at an average of 42.00. His strike rate so far in IPL 2023 is 133.76.
