Shimla, May 24 (Hindustan Times). Now no vehicle will ply on the roads of Himachal Pradesh without number plates. No person can now drive in any vehicle bearing the name plate of his rank except government vehicles. The state government has instructed the officials of the transport department to check the vehicles plying on the roads without number plates and remove the name plates.
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said in Shimla on Wednesday that after government vehicles, 15-year-old private vehicles will also have to be removed from the roads in Himachal. For this, the government will soon bring a scrap policy. Where, following the notification of the Central Government, 200 such government vehicles plying in Himachal for more than 15 years have been removed.
A tax revenue target of 850 crores has been set
Mukesh Agnihotri said that the department is aiming to collect tax revenue of Rs 850 crore this year. Last year it was Rs. 675 crores. The Deputy Chief Minister said that the better performing officers and employees in the department will be given incentives and promotions. ACR of employees will be written according to their work. Mukesh Agnihotri said that the department will work on zero tolerance policy regarding corruption.
The transport department has also set a revenue target of 850 crores. For this, the director of the transport department will give targets to the officials. The Deputy Chief Minister said that the state government is going to provide 15 interceptors under the Rajiv Gandhi Self-Employment Scheme to provide employment to the unemployed. People can rent it.
Tax can be deposited till June 30 with 10% discount
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said that any motorist who has not yet deposited their tax can deposit their tax by June 30 with a rebate of 10%, which is estimated to earn the government Rs 150 crore. Mukesh Agnihotri said that the government is going to enact a new law soon to curb the transport mafia. Under this, Volvo buses coming to Himachal from outside states will now have to pay tax. Under this, 5000 per day, 25000 for 1 week and 75000 for one month will have to be given to the taxpayers. An option of Rs 900000 will be given to pay the annual tax. The department is estimated to earn Rs 10 crore from this.
Mukesh Agnihotri said that the government will end the perception in the department that work cannot be done without brokers. Along with the RTOs, the government is also going to give the power to issue currency to the MVIs.
Funds will be given to schools and colleges for road safety awareness
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said that the state government will launch an awareness campaign for road safety which will also involve schools and colleges. A budget of Rs 15,000 will be given to schools and Rs 30,000 to colleges. Apart from this, road safety will also be included in the curriculum of children up to class II. Black spots will be identified and protected. An awareness campaign on horse based on hill folk culture will be conducted for 10 days to make people aware about road safety.
The corporation’s fleet will soon include 75 new e-buses
Mukesh Agnihotri said that 75 new e-buses will soon be included in the corporation’s fleet. The government is starting the process of procuring 225 new buses. 20 e-buses have reached Shimla. Where soon permits will be given for small buses on 250 routes. Route permits will be given to rural unemployed in the first phase.
