Varanasi: In Jamalpur under Jetpura police station area of the city, a case of feeding poisoned sweets to seven members of the same family has come to light on Friday. All the members have been admitted to the Divisional Hospital at Kabirchaura.
On receiving the information, DCP Kashi Zone Ramsevak Gautam and ACP Dashashwamedh Awadhesh Pandey reached the hospital and after getting information about the incident from the victim’s family, arranged for proper treatment. In this case, the Jetpura police have also registered a case against the youth resident of Lallapura after questioning.
Jamalpura resident Gayatri Devi (60), wife of late Fekulal and her family were introduced to Naushad, a resident of Lallapura in Sigra area, who calls himself Fakir. Naushad reached Gayatri Devi’s house on Thursday evening. Preparations for an auspicious ceremony are going on in Gayatri Devi’s family. During the conversation, Naushad learned about the family’s condition and after praying offered intoxicated rasgulla as prasad to Gayatri and her family members.
It is alleged that Naushad had already intoxicated Rasgulla with the intention of robbery. Gayatri and her family members Rekha (25), Shiv (10), Payal (10), Aman (13), Radhika (5) and Mamta collapsed shortly after eating the dessert. Seeing this, Naushad left there. After getting information about the incident, the police reached the spot and took all of them to the Divisional Hospital for treatment. After questioning at the hospital, the Jetpura police took the accused youth Naushad into custody.
