Prayagraj, May 22 (Hindustan). The Allahabad High Court has directed DM Varanasi to resolve the dispute over the actual ownership of the land for the building of the Gandhian Institute of Studies, run by the Gandhi Memorial Fund, Varanasi, within two months. The court also said that since the disputed land is owned by the Akhil Bharat Sarva Seva Sangh, the land should be returned to it.
Alok Mathur has given this order while hearing the application of Akhil Bharatiya Seva Sangh. The Sarva Seva Sangh has filed a petition in the High Court challenging the order of the Additional District Judge, Varanasi, directing the state government to run the Gandhi Institute of Studies, run by the Gandhi Memorial Fund, after its dissolution. Along with this, the state government has taken over the building and land of the institution.
The petitioner organization says that it is a registered society. He leased the land to the Gandhi Memorial Trust in 1963 to run an institute called the Gandhian Institute of Study. The condition was that if the organization was dissolved the land would be returned to the applicant organization Akhil Bharat Sarva Seva Sangh.
