UP Assembly Elections: Know why Nishad community is important for BJP?
Lucknow.   While Prime Minister Narendra Modi is churning the state from west to east for the UP assembly elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is reaching Lucknow today. Amit Shah will attend the rally of BJP’s ally Nishad Party here. This joint rally of BJP and Nishad Party will be held at Ramabai Ambedkar Maidan in the capital. Amit Shah, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and National President of Nishad Party Dr Sanjay Nishad will also address the rally.

Why is Nishad community important for BJP?

The strength of the Nishad community can be gauged from the fact that due to this, BJP lost the Gorakhpur seat after 25 years in the 2018 Lok Sabha by-elections. After which Sanjay’s son Praveen Nishad, who defeated the BJP, was given ticket by the BJP from Sant Kabirnagar seat in the Lok Sabha in the next year 2019 and is currently a Lok Sabha MP.

Equation of Nishad votes in Purvanchal

There are 22 sub-castes in the Nishad community including Kewat, Bind, Mallah, Kashyap, Nonia, Manjhi, Gond. The Nishad vote affects about 60 seats in Purvanchal. Not only this, their population in many seats is so much that they decide till victory or defeat. This is the reason why all the political parties want to worship the Nishad community. The Congress had taken out Nadi Adhikar Yatra earlier this year for the Nishad vote bank. At the same time, BJP had tried to win the Nishads in their court through the lotus boat tour. However, the claim of Nishad Party President Dr. Sanjay Nishad is that he has the power to decide victory and defeat in more than 150 seats in UP.

Rajbhar reimbursement from Nishad community

In the 2017 assembly elections, the BJP had captured more than 100 seats out of about 156 seats in Purvanchal. In these elections, the BJP had an alliance with Anupriya Patel’s Apna Dal (S) and Om Prakash Rajbhar’s party. The party also got the benefit of which and BJP came to power in UP after 15 years with a thumping majority of 325 seats. But later Anupriya Patel remained a part of NDA but BJP’s relations with Om Prakash Rajbhar deteriorated and eventually Rajbhar separated from NDA. Now he has allied with Samajwadi Party. Let us tell you that Rajbhar vote bank was a major factor in the victory of BJP in about 22 seats in UP in the 2017 elections. But now Rajbhar is no longer with BJP, but both come from the backward castes of Purvanchal, that is why BJP wants to compensate Rajbhar from the Nishad community. This is the reason why Amit Shah has reached Lucknow to attend the rally of Nishad Party.
