US Diwali Holiday: Diwali will now be an official holiday in America! The bill was introduced in Parliament

US Diwali Holiday: US MP Grace Meng introduced a bill in the US Congress declaring Diwali as a holiday. Meng tweeted on Saturday (May 27) that I am proud to announce the Diwali holiday, my bill which will make Diwali a federal holiday. Thanks to all my government colleagues and the many lawyers who expressed their support.

Diwali is known as the festival of lights. It is one of the most important festivals of India. The Diwali Day Act would make Diwali the 12th federally recognized holiday in the US. Diwali is one of the most important days of the year for billions of people around the world and countless families and communities in Queens, US Representative Grace Meng said during a news conference in the US shortly after the bill was introduced in the House of Representatives.

 

 

Diwali Holidays in the State of Pennsylvania

The festival of Diwali is being celebrated with fanfare across America including New York. Recently, the Pennsylvania State Senate passed a bill to recognize Diwali as a public holiday. Pennsylvania State Senate member Nikhil Sawal made the announcement on Twitter. Writing on the official Twitter handle, Nikhil Sawal said he was grateful to Greg Rothman for the opportunity to join him in introducing the bill.
Next month on June 22, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to visit America, so it is considered appropriate to declare Diwali as a public holiday.

Declaring Diwali as a public holiday in the US will benefit millions of people of Indian origin living there. Indians in America will be able to celebrate Diwali well with their family and friends. Let us tell you that there are more than 20 lakh Hindus living in America and the total number of people of Indian origin is more than 30 lakh.
