In the Etah district of Uttar Pradesh, a different method of police was seen in dealing with the theft case. Police called the accused named in the theft case to the police station and made them swear on Gangajal and the case was hushed up. The case is of Barna village of Jaithra police station of Etah district. Where a retired army woman lodged a complaint of theft in her house in the police station and the neighbors were named in that complaint, but to pat their own back, the police settled the case so quickly as if nothing had happened.
The police called the accused to the police station and made them swear on Gangajal and acquitted them from the case. The video of this new method of the police is going viral on social media. It happened that on May 18, 2023, there was a theft from the house of Saroj Mishra, a resident of Barna village of Thana Jaithra area. Along with this, there was a theft from the house of Vijaypal Singh of the same village. Saroj and Vijaypal Singh informed the police station. The police registered the report of both incidents together. The plaintiff of the incident, Vijaypal, was told that Saroj Mishra alleges that there was no theft from Vijaypal’s house. Saroj claims that the ladder that the thieves had installed at the time of the theft was Vijaypal’s. This makes him suspect that Vijaypal has a hand in the theft.
“We have nothing to do with theft”
Complaints were made to the police station, CO Aliganj, SSP, DIG, and ADAG, but the theft could not be solved. Saroj Mishra alleges that the local police are not helping in solving this case. On Saturday, it was Thana Diwas in Thana Jaithra. On the same day, Saroj Mishra was called to the police station. People from Vijaypal Singh’s side were also called to the police station. Vijaypal and his son took an oath in the temple of the police station with Gangajal in their hands that they had nothing to do with the theft. A video of this was made in front of a large crowd. After this action in the police station premises, Vijaypal and his son were acquitted on the suspicion of not being involved in this crime.
“Not satisfied with this action of the police”
On the other hand, the victim Saroj Mishra is not satisfied with the police action. She said that the police inspector who is investigating the case had called her to take an oath. We did not make any demand. Saroj Mishra said that someone must have committed the theft. The theft should be disclosed. On the other hand, CO Aliganj Sudhanshu Shekhar said the whole matter that I am not aware of the matter of taking an oath in a temple in a theft case. The theft that has happened is being investigated. Efforts are being made to disclose it.
Police station in-charge Rajkumar Singh has full knowledge of the incident, but he denies any role of police in it and is saying that the villagers made them swear among themselves. However, the biggest question is that if the accused of theft came to the police station, then how did the police let him go from the police station?
