UP-Har Ghar Jal Yojana: In terms of water connection, UP has overtaken Maharashtra and reached the second position.

Water Connections in UP: Officials of Jal Shakti Department of Uttar Pradesh said that Uttar Pradesh has topped the list of states providing maximum number of water connections in rural areas leaving behind Maharashtra. So far Bihar is on top in this matter.

According to Jal Shakti department officials, more than 40,000 water connections are installed every day in UP. Despite having the largest rural population in the country, the state has implemented the Har Ghar Jal (water in every home) scheme under the Jal Jeevan Mission. 1,12,97,534 connections are given.

Over 40,000 water connections have been ensured in UP. Officials said that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is directly monitoring the implementation of the scheme. UP tops the national list in providing daily water connections to more than 50% of rural households. After this Bihar is in this category.

Badayon, Sravasti, Lucknow, Kasganj, Kanpur Dehat and Sant Ravidas Nagar in UP have made significant progress in the national ranking of ensuring access to water and providing water connections to 50% households by May 14, 2023.

Now, Lucknow and Kanpur are also in the list of 32 districts of UP which provide clean drinking water to more than 50% rural households. Hardoi ranks first among the districts providing water connections to 25% of rural households, followed by Aligarh.

Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev said that UP is an inspiring example for other states in implementing Har Ghar Jal Mission. We are setting new goals for ourselves. Its aim is to ensure that any poor person has access to clean drinking water at their doorstep.
