UP civic vote count: BJP candidate ahead in Muslim-majority Siwalkhas

Meerut : The BJP’s strategy of fielding its candidates in Muslim-majority Nagar Panchayats and wards in the municipal elections seems to be successful. BJP candidate Rashida Begum is leading on the post of President in Meerut’s Siwalkhas Nagar Panchayat.

For the first time BJP fielded its candidate for the post of Siwalkhas Nagar Panchayat President in Meerut district. The BJP made Rashida Begum its candidate here. Surprising results are being seen in the counting of votes released on Saturday. In the counting of votes after the first round, the BJP candidate is ahead by 872 votes. So far BJP’s Rashida has got 1898 votes. In second place, All India Forward Bloc’s Furkan got 1105 votes, BSP’s Akbari 1006, Congress’s Naeem 273, Aam Aadmi Party’s Shamim 285, RLD’s Shahjahan got 732 votes.
