Independence Day 2023 History:
The British East India Company established its presence in India during the 17th century, gradually extending its control over various regions. By the mid-19th century, the Indian subcontinent was under British colonial rule, resulting in widespread economic exploitation, cultural suppression, and social inequality. Consequently, a growing movement for independence and self-governance gained momentum.
Independence Day 2023 Significance:
Independence Day is recognized as a national holiday in the country. This specific day serves as a remembrance of the numerous sacrifices made by our freedom fighters to propel the liberation movement and secure India’s freedom from British rule. The present Indian national flag was designed by Pingali Venkayya, an educator and freedom fighter from Andhra Pradesh. On August 15, 1947, India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, hoisted the national flag at the Lahori Gate of the Red Fort in Delhi. The current national flag features three colors: saffron symbolizes courage and sacrifice, white signifies peace, and green represents prosperity.
