Denver Airport USA: Viral Video of United Airlines Pilot Breaking Barrier Gate with Axe
A captivating incident involving a United Airlines pilot is making waves on social media. The viral video shows the pilot breaking a barrier gate with an axe at a parking spot. According to a report from CBS News, the pilot revealed that he used the axe to assist drivers.
The recorded event took place on August 2nd. The video features 63-year-old Kenneth Henderson Jones, a pilot for United Airlines, wielding an axe as he approaches the entry gate of a parking area at Denver Airport.
Jones forcefully strikes the parking arm more than 20 times with the axe, eventually breaking it.
After destroying the barrier, he attempts to flee the scene but is halted by an airport employee who tries to take the axe from him. Another staff member arrives and they both manage to subdue the pilot. However, he escapes to a nearby field where he is apprehended by the Denver Police.
Later, the pilot explained that there were around six vehicles behind each of the three entry gates to the parking area. To assist the drivers in getting out, he took out an axe from his car.
Initially accused of criminal mischief by Adams County authorities, Jones was released the same day. He has been summoned to appear in Adams County Court on September 25th.
Due to the ongoing internal investigation by the company, the pilot has also been removed from United’s work schedule. It is estimated that the incident may cost the pilot around $700 as per CBS News.
According to FAA records, Jones is qualified to fly several large passenger planes, including Boeing 767 and 757. This incident has stirred significant attention and curiosity, shedding light on the unexpected actions of a pilot in a seemingly routine setting.
