Ukraine lost control of abandoned city of Bakhmut, Zelensky said – now in our hearts

[ad_1]

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky informed world leaders during a G-7 summit leaders meeting on Sunday that the city of Bakhmut had been destroyed and that Ukraine had lost control of the city. He said that the city has completely disappeared and Russia has occupied it. When Zelensky was asked whether Russia had captured the city or whether Ukraine still captured the city? Then he could not give a clear answer. He said, ‘You must understand that there is nothing left. From now on Bakhmut resides only in our hearts.’

Earlier, Russia’s military claimed it had captured the town of Bakhmut on Saturday in what it described as the deadliest battle of the war. This loss will be symbolic for Ukraine. Ukrainian troops have been fighting for control of the city for months. The US advised him to concentrate behind the scenes on fighting elsewhere in Ukraine rather than in the strategically unimportant city.

Zelensky sat next to the US President at a parallel meeting of the G-7 summit in Hiroshima.

Ukraine claims British cruise missiles fired at Russian-held port

Russia occupies the port of Berdyans in the Zaporizhzhya province in the south of Ukraine. A Russian-appointed official in the province claimed on Sunday that Ukraine had fired seven missiles, including four Storm Shadow cruise missiles supplied by Britain, at the port of Berdian. However, 6 of these missiles fell outside the city and did not cause any casualties.
