Two students drowned while bathing in the Ganges at Tulsighat, leaving families in mourning.

Varanasi: On Friday, two students who had gone to bathe in the Ganga drowned in the deep water at Tulsi Ghat located in Bhelupur Police Station area of ​​the city. Police are searching for the students with the help of local detectives based on information from people present at the spot. On the other hand, there has been an uproar among the relatives and classmates of the students after getting the information about the accident.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident took place when the two students were taking a bath in the river Ganga when they went into deep water amidst rain. Among them, 21-year-old Prakhar Singh is a native of Azamgarh district. He is a third year management student at SMS College. The second student has been identified as 20-year-old Avinash, a polytechnic student, who had come to Varanasi from Jaunpur to meet his friend Prakhar.

Both the students reached between Tulsi Ghat and Ganga Mahal Ghat for Ganga bath this morning amid rain. In the midst of heavy rain, the two descended the stairs to take a dip in the Ganga. Meanwhile, Avinash’s foot slipped and he fell into deep water. Prakhar rushes forward to save him, causing him to fall into deep water as well.

Seeing the two students drowning, people tried to save them, but by then both had gone into deep water. Police have called divers to the spot on the information of local people. Divers are looking for both. After getting information about the incident, Prakhar’s classmates have also reached the ghat.
