Bhopal: Two Namibian leopard cubs died of sunstroke in Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park on Thursday. The latest death brings to six the number of deaths of cheetahs migrating from African countries to Kuno National Park in the past two months. Officials suspect that the cub died due to dehydration.

Chief Conservator of Forest JS Chauhan Commenting on the matter, said, “When the monitoring team visited the park, the cub was found weak, so the team called a veterinarian and took it to the hospital, but the cub died after 5-10 minutes. He was brought to Kuno District. She gave birth to four cubs in the last week of March this year. The feral cat had already lost one cub on Tuesday due to suspected dehydration and weakness and now has only one newborn.

The Supreme Court recently expressed concern over the death of a leopard in Kuno. Some suggested a shift to Rajasthan. It seems that kuno is not enough for many panthers. Why are you not getting a suitable place in Rajasthan? Just because Rajasthan is ruled by an opposition party, doesn’t mean you don’t take it into consideration,” the Supreme Court told the Centre.
