Twitter accuses Microsoft of misusing its data

A Twitter lawyer has accused giant Microsoft of misusing data related to its services and demanded an audit by the software giant. The letter initially accused Microsoft of misusing Twitter’s tweet database, but the move threatens to start a legal battle between the two companies.

Musk had earlier in a tweet accused Microsoft and its partner Open AI of misusing Twitter data to develop advanced natural intelligence-based technologies like Chat-GPT. In this tweet made in April, Musk had said, ‘Trial time.’ A letter signed by Musk’s lawyer also centers around the same allegation.

It said Microsoft’s agreement with Twitter prevents the company from misusing the microblogging website’s data. Sipro wrote that despite these restrictions, Microsoft achieved more than 26 billion Twitter tweets in 2022 alone.

The letter also alleged that Microsoft was supposed to inform Twitter about the potential use of its data, but the company failed to do so in the case of 6 out of 8 of its applications that collected information from Twitter’s database. The letter also states that at least one of Microsoft’s applications supplied Twitter data to multiple virtual media, in violation of an agreement between the two parties.
