Kokrajhar (Assam): In a raid by the Shimlutapu police in Gosaigaon subdivision under Kokrajhar district, a truck carrying a large quantity of illegal liquor has been seized. Police have arrested two people in this matter.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by Shimlutapu station in-charge Sanjay Rai intercepted a truck (NL-01AC-8162) on the National Highway and searched it, police sources said on Wednesday. During the search, more than 150 cartons of illegal liquor were found in the secret chamber of the truck. The police later arrested the truck drivers Shamsul Shaikh and Akinur Ali. Shamsul is said to be a resident of Bahalpur and Akinur Vilasipara in Bangaigaon district. Police sources said that the market value of the seized liquor would be more than Rs 7 lakh. The police have registered an FIR in this matter and started investigation.
