JALANDHAR: Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar said this morning that five undocumented buses were seized during checking of buses at Rama Mandi Chowk, Kartarpur and Dhilwan toll plazas besides a surprise visit to the local RTA office. At three places, the transport minister seized five buses, including 14 buses that were challaned for violating various rules.

The Transport Minister held the RTA at 7.30 am along with officials of the Transport Department and the Secretary of the Regional Transport Authority. After talking to the employees in the office, they were instructed to provide public service in due time. He expressed satisfaction that the entire staff has been providing services by attending their meetings since morning. He also checked the attendance sheet after going to the RTA office and taking information about the performance of the employees.

Laljit Singh Bhullar accompanied the officials to the local Rama Mandi Chowk, Kartarpur and toll plaza Dhilwan district Kapurthala, where he himself checked the bus permits, tax documents etc. 63 buses were checked by the Transport Minister, out of which five buses were impounded on the spot and 14 were challaned.

The transport minister said that no bus will be allowed to ply without proper documents like tax, journey details and permit etc. He said that the investigation campaign will be intensified in the coming days. He directed the officials to issue challans and impound buses violating the rules.
