Lucknow, May 24 (Hindustan Times). Dr. The ongoing 15-day seminar on ‘Basic Orientation on Indian Sign Language’ at Shakuntala Mishra National Rehabilitation University concluded late on Wednesday evening. On this occasion the chancellor of the university Prof. Ranakrishna Pal Singh said that holding such an event in the university gets national and international recognition. Also by organizing such workshops there is a special benefit of getting familiar with the dimensions of educational innovation and a special kind of awareness among university teachers and special teachers as well as general and special students.

He said the event would pave the way for new opportunities for the academic community as well as for disability debate. Special congratulations were extended to the convener for the successful organization of this fortnight workshop and gave inspiration for such programs in future. Convener of the program and Chief Provost of the Hostel Prof. Virendrasinh Yadav referring to the evaluation and progress report of the fifteen days workshop said that the purpose for which this fifteen days workshop was started has almost been completed by this. The workshop is gone. He said that in this workshop five trainers, interpreters were trained and 23 resource persons came and addressed the workshop and motivated the participants. More than two hundred participants participated in this fifteen-day workshop, with detailed reading and practice on eighteen topics in fifteen days.

The main objective of the workshop was to ground the concept of inclusive education by including the disabled in the mainstream of society. The lack of communication among students in the hostel due to ignorance of sign language was largely overcome through teaching by subject experts during these fortnight. Prof. Virendrasinh Yadav also gave detailed information about the concluding activities to be held on each day of the fifteen day workshop.

200 students participated in this workshop. In this closing ceremony, Head of Fine Arts Department Prof. P. Rajivanayan, Dean of Faculty of Special Education Prof. Rajni Ranjan Singh, Associate Professor, Faculty of Commerce, Dr. Sanjeev Gupta, Dr. Narendra Pratap Singh was present. , Assistant, Department of Economics, Dr. Dr. Anjali Singh, Coordinator, Department of Sociology.
