Punjab News : Punjab Vigilance Bureau today informed Water Supply and Sanitation Department, SAS Nagar, R.K. Gupta has been arrested red-handed for accepting a bribe of one lakh. Giving information in this regard, the spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that the accused has been arrested based on the complaint of Lakhpat Rai, a resident of Muktsar Sahib.
He said that the complainant approached the Vigilance Bureau and said that he was working with a government contractor, who was allotted a tender related to drinking water supply scheme in Khunnan village of Kotbhai block in Sri Muktsar Sahib district. The complainant further alleged that the said Superintending Engineer demanded a bribe of Rs.2,00,000 for settling the outstanding bills and submitting the inspection report of the said project but the deal was settled for Rs.1 lakh.
The spokesperson further said that after preliminary investigation of the complaint, the vigilance unit of Bathinda range laid a trap and extorted Rs. 1,00,000 bribe was caught by Rang. . the witness The vigilance team also seized the bribe money from him on the spot.
In this regard, a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the said accused in Vigilance Bureau Bathinda Police Station and further proceedings have been initiated.
