Lucknow On April 24, a public meeting of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on his election tour for the urban body was organized. In it, he spoke the punchline, “No curfew, no storm, UP sab changa”. This part of his address was a big hit. This meant good governance which had a commitment to his zero tolerance policy towards criminals, mafias and corrupt people from his first tenure. This commitment is also reflected in the state government’s actions.
Public support for the issue of law and order and development
Wherever Chief Minister Yogi went for civic polls, adding localism, he kept law and order and development at the center. For example, in Kanpur it was said that earlier Katta was manufactured here, now the defense corridor will produce sophisticated weapons for the army. Alluding to the mafia-era gang war in Gorakhpur like every time in Azamgarh, he said how the dreaded criminals have created an identity crisis in the country for the youth here.
Today, through the results of municipal bodies, millions of people who are urban and moving towards becoming a city have confirmed that they prefer Yogi’s good governance, as it is one of the basic conditions for the development of a city.
Yogi once again proved to be a successful captain
In terms of publicity, it was Yogi’s most successful captaincy innings. As soon as the election was announced, he entered the fray with full energy. His other colleagues and Sarkar’s organization also threw their full force for the Triple Engine Sarkar, but as in every game, the credit for winning and losing goes to the captain.
Yogi held a total of 50 public meetings
Yogi held a total of 50 public meetings and conventions in these two-phase elections. That too when BJP mayors won in 14 out of 16 municipal corporations in the last election. Meanwhile, if there was no preoccupation with the Karnataka elections for three days, their numbers would have been higher.
Opposition on the backfoot from the start
If we compare this with the opposition, it seems that he has given a walkover to the BJP considering its defeat certain. Congress was busy with the Karnataka elections. None of their big leaders have entered the fray here. The BSP left the entire responsibility of coordination with the candidates to the local coordinators. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav certainly turned out, but compared to Yogi, the election campaign was less of a ceremony. In all, he visited only 7 Municipal Corporations Gorakhpur, Ghaziabad, Lucknow, Saharanpur, Kanpur, Aligarh and Meerut for election campaign. His visits to urban institutions were limited to Kannauj and Auraiya. As a result, the BJP had a clean sweep in the prestigious municipal elections. BJP mayoral candidates won all (17) municipal corporation seats.
