Regarding this film based on conversion, its makers say that this film is based on true events.

At the same time, Mamta Banerjee has called it a propaganda film. He said why did they make The Kashmir Files? To humiliate a section (of society)? What is the story of Kerala? It is also a fact that The Kerala Story has become a box office hit. The film has so far earned Rs 80 crore. The budget of the film is said to be around 15 crores.
