New Delhi, May 23 (Hindustan Times). After riding a bullish horse throughout the day, the domestic stock market closed with a slight gain today due to strong selling in the last hour of trading. Today’s trading started with a slight gain, but during the day’s trading, the market gained a good amount of strength. However, profit-booking in the last hour of trading negated all the gains in the market. After the day’s trading, Sensex closed with a gain of 0.03 percent and Nifty by 0.18 percent.

In today’s trade, the stocks of Oil & Gas, Utility, Commodity and Power sectors remained the most bullish. Apart from this, the shares of Adani Group also remained strong for the second consecutive day today. On the other hand, selling pressure remained in IT and capital goods sector stocks today. In today’s business, buying continued in medium and small stocks, due to which the Midcap index closed with a gain of 0.43 percent and Smallcap index by 0.11 percent.

After the trading in the market today, the wealth of the stock market investors increased by more than Rs 99 thousand crore. The market capitalization of listed companies on BSE rose to Rs 279.78 lakh crore (provisional) after today’s trade. While their market capitalization was Rs 278.79 lakh crore on the last trading day i.e. Monday. In this way, investors got benefit of about 99 thousand crore rupees from today’s business.

Today, there was active trading in 3,624 shares on BSE during the day’s trading. Of these, 1,782 scrips closed with gains, while 1,726 scrips declined, while 116 scrips closed without any movement. Active trading took place in 2,035 scrips on NSE today. Of these, 1,047 shares closed in the green mark by earning profit and 988 shares closed in the red mark by taking losses. Similarly, out of 30 stocks included in the Sensex, 13 closed with gains and 17 closed with losses. Whereas out of 50 stocks included in Nifty, 28 stocks closed in green mark and 22 stocks closed in red mark.

The BSE Sensex today opened at a level of 62,098.16 points with a gain of 134.48 points. As soon as the trading started, the buyers started buying fast. Due to which this index jumped up to the level of 62,245.19 points by 1 pm. Buyers continued to dominate throughout the day’s trading, but during the last hour heavy selling started due to profit-booking, due to which the Sensex also took a dive. After day’s buying and selling, the index ended today’s trade at 61,981.79 with a marginal gain of 18.11 points.

Like the Sensex, the NSE Nifty also started trading today with a gain of 48.50 points at 18,362.90 points. Due to continuous buying in the market, this index also made a sharp jump and by the end of the day’s first session, it gained 105.35 points to reach 18,419.75 points. The index also declined from higher levels due to heavy selling due to profit-booking during the last hour of trading. After the day’s trading, the Nifty closed at a level of 18,348 points with a gain of 33.60 points.
