New Delhi, May 21 (Hindustan Times). Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the state-of-the-art Parliament Building to the nation on Sunday. Earlier he had installed a sengol amidst chanting of Vedic chants at the new Parliament House. After this, he honored the laborers who contributed to the construction of the building.
The Prime Minister reached Parliament House in Raisina Hills early in the morning and first paid floral tributes to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. A pooja program was organized in the new parliament building. In which Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and other dignitaries attended. On the auspicious occasion of the inauguration of the newly constructed Parliament House, the Prime Minister received Sengol from the Adinam Saints of Tamil Nadu. He then proceeded to install it near the Speaker’s seat in the Lok Sabha of the new Parliament, Sengol. Unveiling a ceremonial plaque after Sengol’s installation, the Prime Minister along with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla dedicated the new Parliament Building to the nation. After this he honored the labourers. Prime Minister Modi participated in the ‘Sarva-Dharma’ prayer ceremony organized at the New Parliament Building.
Before the establishment of Sengol, the Prime Minister also paid tribute to him. Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted on the occasion that as India’s new Parliament building is inaugurated, our hearts and minds are filled with pride, hope and promise. May this iconic building be a cradle of empowerment, awakening dreams and turning them into reality. It will take our great nation to new heights of progress. He said that today is an unforgettable day for all our countrymen. The new Parliament Building will fill us all with pride and hope. He has full confidence that this divine and magnificent building will give new impetus and strength to the prosperity and power of the nation along with the empowerment of the people.
The Prime Minister is also receiving congratulations from various quarters regarding the inauguration of the new building. In the afternoon, a celebration program will be held to dedicate the new Parliament building to the nation. The Prime Minister will participate in it. Strict security arrangements have been made in Delhi borders and New Delhi area in view of the inauguration program of the new Parliament building. Two stations of Delhi Metro Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhavan have been closed for entry and exit in view of the evening-long event. However, passengers can change trains from here.
It may be noted that the carpets of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha in the new Parliament House inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday have displayed exquisite forms of the national bird peacock and the national flower lotus respectively.
