The G-20 representatives stressed on enacting strict legislation for recovery of property acquired through corruption

Rishikesh: The representatives of the G-20 countries at the meeting of the Anti-Corruption Working Group have called for stronger legislation on the recovery of assets acquired from corruption to combat corruption worldwide.

On the second day of the anti-corruption working group meeting held at Narendra Nagar, issues like strength of democracy, economic situation and corruption were discussed. At the meeting, G-20 representatives deliberated on making strict laws for this in various sessions. During the discussion, the delegates opined that the system should be strengthened by enacting strict legislation for recovery of property acquired related to corruption in private institutions including government institutions worldwide. At the meeting, the delegates also emphasized that corruption will be curbed only if all countries establish mutual coordination to fight corruption and strengthen international cooperation regarding law enforcement and information sharing. Because of this, public trust will also increase towards the government.

It may be mentioned that the meeting of all the groups is going on before the G-20 summit under the chairmanship of India. In this sequence, the Working Group meeting on Entry Corruption to be held in Uttarakhand is being organized by Sherpa Trek under 13 Working Groups and 3 Initiatives. The G-20 is the main forum for international economic cooperation. It plays an important role in determining and strengthening global structure and governance on all major international economic issues.
