Build: The Additional District and Sessions Judge, Special Judge (Slave Affected Areas Act) on Tuesday barged into the former principal’s house and sent the then sub-inspector named in the assault, vandalism and robbery case to jail. The court directed the department to arrest the police personnel named in the 34-year-old case, but no action has been taken so far. In this regard, the sub-inspector, who appeared in the court, was ordered to be taken into custody by the police and handed over to jail.
Badri Prasad Pandey, a resident of Padmai village under Naraini police station area of the district, who was the principal at Rajkumar Inter College Naraini. On May 8, 1989 at around eight o’clock in the night, 10 policemen, including the then Inspector-in-Charge of Naraini Kotwali, raided Badri Prasad Pandey and his family members and also carried out a robbery incident. Apart from Badri Prasad Pandey, family members Manmohan Tiwari, Rajendra Pandey and his son Balakrishna Pandey were seriously injured in the incident. Who was also treated at the district hospital. At the time of the incident, the women had closed the doors of the house. The policemen entered the women’s house by breaking the door, assaulted them and looted the jewelery kept in the cupboard. After this incident, a complaint was filed against the police by the prosecutor Badri Prasad Pandey. But as there was no action, he resorted to the court.
After the suit was filed on 29 August 1989, the court issued warrants against the accused policemen. But no policeman appeared. After this NPWs and warrants were issued, although no action was taken against the police. The court also ordered the arrest of the Inspector General of Police, Lucknow Zone and the DIG. Even after this no action has been taken against him. In the meantime, Badri Prasad Pandey, the petitioner of the suit, died on 12 December 2005. His son Balakrishna Pandey started the case in his stead.
The policemen were not present during the continuous hearing in the court. However, to avoid arrest, an application for anticipatory bail was filed in the court by Sub-Inspector Kamalapati Tripathi and Constable Tikaram. Which was rejected by the court. The two policemen then went to the Allahabad High Court, but there was no relief. His anticipatory bail application was rejected by the High Court on 3 May 2023. Then retired sub-inspector Kamalapati Tripathi appeared in court on Tuesday, who was taken into custody and ordered to be sent to jail.
Informing about the incident, Balkrishna Pandey, son of the late principal, said that in this case the father Sub-Inspector Phulchand Tripathi, Inspector-in-charge Rajendra Singh, Ram Avtar Singh Yadav SSI, Constable Sahadev Singh Madanlal Singh, Sub Inspector Kamalapati Tripathi, Constable Sitaram, Ramdas , Tekchand and Devi Prasad were made accused. Accused Phool Chandra Tripathi, Rajendra Singh Yadav, Ram Avatar Yadav, Devi Prasad and Tika Ram died during the trial.
